Dalgakıran - Semt Bizim Ev Kiralık

Dalgakıran, one of the standout bands on the Turkish alternative rock scene, released the third single from their second album, “Olay Ufku”, titled “Semt Bizim Ev Kiralık”, on 8 May.

Exploring the band’s fragile relationship with the city through a character’s story, “Semt Bizim Ev Kiralık” addresses the transience of modern life and the erosion of a sense of belonging with an ironic tone. Speaking to the world from his own “cave”, the narrator, adrift amidst noisy solitude, indecision and constantly changing lives, transforms the idea of belonging into striking slogans: landless sovereignty, licence-free piracy.

 

Shaped by powerful guitar riffs, a fluid bass line and dynamic drumming, the track presents Dalgakıran’s signature guitar-driven Turkish rock sound with a sharper and more direct narrative. With its instantly catchy structure and a flow that invites repeated listening, “Semt Bizim Ev Kiralık” stands out as a powerful step that strengthens the band’s position on the alternative scene.

 

Dalgakıran’s second album, “Olay Ufku”, takes its name from the concept defined around black holes and known as the “point of no return”. The band uses this metaphor to describe the irreversible moments of transformation in the bonds an individual forms with life, relationships and themselves. “Semt Bizim Ev Kiralık”, within this narrative, represents the moment when the feeling of not belonging is accepted and transience almost becomes an identity.

 

The track was recorded at Recordium Studios. Orçun Ayata provided support during the production and mixing process, whilst the mastering was handled by Marcin Bociński (Legato Mastering). The music for “Semt Bizim Ev Kiralık”, with lyrics by Tunca Baran Bütün, is composed by Dalgakıran.

 

With “Semt Bizim Ev Kiralık”, Dalgakıran invites the listener to live without belonging, to accept transience, and to find oneself within that flow.
