Kana Kana’s new single, inspired by a poem by Sabahattin Ali, is now available: İSTEK

 

Kana Kana, who are currently working on their second album, continue to release surprise tracks to keep their listeners engaged.

 

This time, the artist presents a musical interpretation of her favourite Sabahattin Ali poem, “İstek”, for her listeners’ enjoyment.

 

Sabahattin Ali’s poem, which in a way recounts his own death, fits perfectly with Kana Kana’s dark storytelling style, given its distinctly gothic tone compared to the poet’s usual style and tone.

 

With music, arrangement, mixing and mastering all by Kana Kana, and all instruments played by the band themselves, the song’s surprise comes from Yağmur Alev, the band member responsible for drums, synths and everything else. From the point where “İstek” breaks musically, Yağmur joins the vocals, ensuring the song truly finds its soul.

 

The single’s cover design also pays homage to Sabahattin Ali; the Andrea Del Sarto painting “Madonna Delle Arpie”, which inspired *The Lady in the Fur Coat*, has been reimagined by Kana Kana to suit the song and transformed into the cover artwork.
